Been a long time since I posted...

Well, I haven't been completely idle. Just mostly idle, I fear. Frankly, the writing muse has been far from me for a long time. Mostly that's due to living with my partner; instead of me eating dinner in the evening, and then going and writing, nowadays the two of us eat dinner together, and spend the rest of the evening together as well.

(I wonder how many fanfic writers have stopped writing when they met someone?)

Nevertheless. The writing muse has been nibbling at my ear lately, and I've been getting some words down. One particular interminable scene has finally been finished. The grand total of chapter 15 thus far is now ... er, 4245 words. That's not a lot to show for more than two years, and believe me, I know it.

Sorry.

As a sop to you, to make it look as though I haven't been completely idle, I can at least offer something tangible. I've finally gotten the first 14 chapters of SM4200 together as a pair of ebooks. (Only epub format so far, I'm afraid, but I'm open to doing a PDF version as well, if anyone really wants it.)

My plan at present is to divide the whole series into three volumes:

  • Book One: Lost Moon—the prelude through chapter 9
  • Book Two: New Moon—chapters 10 through 14
  • Book Three: Full Moon—chapters 15 through the coda

You can find the first volume here, and the second volume here.

Neither volume has any cover art at present. If there are any artistically talented people out there reading this, who'd like to contribute something, I'd love to hear from you...

Sometimes I feel like we ought to feel more grumpy about the fact that there's always a chance the story will never be finished, but then I remember that a) "GRRM is not your bitch"; and b) I'm so happy that you're happy and in love and all the rest that any worries about the story fade in comparison.

Just promise us that if you get married, have kids and give up on writing entirely you'll someday post your author's notes so we can finally find out what was meant to happen in the end. ;) Until then, congratulations on finding happiness.

This story has inspired me to such great lengths. I am a huge Sailor Moon fan and came across this when I first began high school, I am now in college. It is a great read and I hope that you will still find the love of writing this story just as you had in the beginning!

So hard waiting. Been reading this since it was being posted on ASMR. Back when the top picture on the page was Princess Serenity, lol.

Difficult waiting, but glad you're still writing. :)

Appreciate the update! And the promise of author notes in the event of "life." =D

Thanks for the ePub files too! Looks great on my iPhone!

Thanks for the epub files. Now SM4200 is on my ereader when ever I decide I'd like to do another reread. :)

I can't wait for the next chapter to be up, though I totally understand taking a while to write. How the heck have you gotten your story so long? I'm lucky if I hit 70k with my stuff.

I can't get the ebooks to work. -_-
Are they available as pdfs?

What are you looking for for cover art?

I'd love a PDF version, I don't think I can read those on my phone, but I DO know I can use PDF files. Yay for Adobe on Android! I've been checking up on this every few months, and haven't had a computer lately to really do so.

Congrats on your wedding, and I hope you two will be happy for a very, very long time.

The writing bug will come back, by the way. It always does, you'll get a brilliant idea, and HAVE to put it down...and it just won't stop. And I'm rambling, it's 3:53 am here, sorry!

Good luck~

Congratulations on your wedding! Don't worry about losing the muse, I'm sure it'll come back eventually.

What are you looking for in cover art?

EndlessD and Clyde, what am I looking for in cover art? Gee, that's not easy to answer.

I think the best solution is probably not a scene from the story. (Which do you pick?!) I would be more inclined toward something quite iconic -- e.g. the way covers of The Lord of the Rings often just feature the Ring, or the Eye.

How about:
Book One: A night-time cityscape of Third Tokyo, seen from an elevated viewpoint (and with the Archives Dome visible in the distance); and in the night sky, above the city, a pair of eyes. (Serenity's eyes, of course.)
Book Two: The same, but this time with a thin crescent moon visible behind the eyes. Maybe a variation in the colour scheme of the city: e.g. a blue wash.
Book Three: The same again, but with a full moon. A different colour wash to the city, again. The Archives Dome is broken. (That's a mild spoiler!)

What do you think?

Can We get an update? How is everything?

It is a shame you want a city scape, since I am not to good at those. I have submitted fanart to you before way back when I had no idea what the hell I was doing with a graphics program. I'm glad to see Ch 14 up that may keep me busy awhile. Good luck on your muse I know mine likes to slap me awake in the middle of the night.

In fact, yes. I'm actually doing a little writing lately, and it's all SM4200...

Cheers! Delighted to here that you're still working on it. Honestly, even if this story never gets finished, I think I treasure the available chapters as much as any completed story. I've come back to this fic many, many times, and it really is a gift, half-finished or whole. Of course, closure would always be welcome! I've reread it so many times, and I just finished another read and as always, my mind is swarming with questions and pondering details I had never noticed before (Such as the elusive "M", who was always a mystery to me and whose identity has suddenly become painfully obvious, I think).

This story has gotten into my brain and means so much to me, like any good story does. Thank you for that.
