A Few Notes

First off, thanks to you all for your kind words! They mean a lot.

Just to confuse things a little, I've uploaded a new version of chapter 13 tonight. It contains a couple of extremely trivial corrections. Firstly, the new Moon is now explicitly acknowledged as being the daughter of the Queen. (I'm avoiding naming names, for the sake of those who may not have read it yet.) Secondly, chapter 11 showed Dhiti's bedroom as being an upstairs one, so I've made a couple of minor tweaks in chapter 13; she no longer casually climbs in through the window. Unimportant stuff, but it makes me feel better. ^_^

Writing news: Chapter 14 is coming on, fairly slowly at present but I am at least working at it. About 5000 words done at present.

Actually, it should have been posted a day earlier. I spent all yesterday morning and half the afternoon re-writing the script that converts the plain-text version of a chapter to HTML. (It needed a face-lift to handle the “new” HTML template that I switched to a couple of months ago.) Then one final read-through of the chapter—during which I changed more than I expected. One final spell-check. Add the pre-readers’ names. And so forth. Then it was finally ready, and I went to upload it…and found that my ISP's FTP servers weren’t accepting connections any more. Gah!

But they're working again today, so the chapter is up. I still haven't posted it to Fanfiction.net, but I'll get to that sometime later today. FFNet gets the lowest priority because of the way they butcher people’s stories without notification.

And now I'm out of excuses for not working on chapter 14…! Oh, well. ’Bout time I started working seriously on that, too, huh?

Getting so close...

Oh, boy, it's been a while, hasn't it? Sorry.

Okay, the situation is this: I've pretty much finished the revisions to the chapter. It's taken a lot longer than I expected, partly because I've also been trying to work on chapter 14 at the same time (that hasn't been working so well; when it comes to writing, I'm not too good at multi-tasking. Still, there's about 3600 words there)…and partly because some of the pre-reader comments I got back were so mountainous. (I'm looking at you, Frobozz and Abdiel.)

The chapter is now 44,514 words, incidentally. I had to do quite a lot of work to various parts.

At this stage I'd expect that it should be posted within a week or so…
