May: the Update

All right, so I haven't updated recently. Sorry.

Truth is I haven't had a lot of writing time lately. (My recent vows to write every day notwithstanding.) The story is still plodding on; but recently, plodding has been pretty much accurate. Currently it stands at 17500 words.

Whole bunch of things contributing to the delays. I've been bogged down in a couple of scenes—one where Artemis spies on 'S' Division, and one set in a hospital—which, for one reason or another, don't really want to come alive for me. They're pretty well finished all the same, but it's taken hard work.

Then there've been some health problems, and some completely different problems in my day job. (About both of which, the less said the better, I think.) Plus I finally cracked a point where I'd been stuck in a certain video game for a long time, and started racing ahead…well, perhaps the less said about that the better, too.

Anyway. I am plodding on, and the story is advancing.

Just so you know.

Aiiieeee!!!!!
Did you see what those crazy Japanese are up to?
Someone ought to warn them that drilling down to the centre of the earth is a bad idea.
Who knows what sort of anomalies they might unleash?

Anyway, big hugs about the health problems. Get better and enjoy the video games.

Unless they're drilling under the Tokyo Tower we're probably safe ...

Is there a significance to the Tokyo Tower once being over the place where the Master is?

Also, yaaaaayyyy keep writing!

Tsk. How soon they forget. :)
The "anomaly" in SM4200 chapter 9 was buried 2km directly below the Tokyo Tower.

Oh, it was built just as in the "real world." Hmm ... this is may not come up again in the story, so I may as well explain it here.

I said at the end of chapter 9 that some ideas in it were based on the science-fiction TV series "Quatermass" (aka "The Quatermass Conclusion"). This series suggested that stone circles, such as Stonehenge, had been erected to mark places that had become dreadful to the primitive people, because something horrible had happened there. The series further suggested that there might be something buried far below such circles: an alien marker beacon of some kind.

Well, obviously it wasn't an alien marker beacon buried under the Tokyo Tower. I was hinting at the idea of a race memory of some kind, though.

Dhiti's investigation of a vitrimorph shard in chapter 8, and her subsequent dream, are definitely related.

No no! I didn't forget. What I meant was if you were making some connection between Tokyo Tower being where it was located above the anaomaly. But you kinda cleared that up with the Quartermass explanation. Very interesting.
