Turmoil

Well. My life has been somewhat chaotic for the last few weeks, and looks like remaining that way for a while too. Haven't had a lot of time for writing lately.

I've been planning a trip to Australia for some time: spending nine days in Melbourne and the surrounding area. I've been to Melbourne once before and it's a nice place. And I've got a lot of air miles to use up before they start expiring!

But a couple of weeks ago, I got a call from my landlord to say that he's just sold my apartment and I need to move out by 12th December. (Two days before my birthday, this was not news I needed.) That gives me six weeks to find somewhere new, pack up thousands of books (really; seventeen separate book-cases) and get everything moved. Plus all the expense and stress of doing it. And with a 9-day holiday booked right in the middle of it all.

Oy.

But I've managed to find a new place, thank goodness. It's a good deal bit further out of town than I am now, but not unbearably so. A little more expensive, but with a bit more space too. Quiet neighbours. Near the beach. I'm fairly optimistic.

I've also decided that I'm going to get professional packers in to handle all the books and so forth. It'll cost a bundle, of course, but I think that the reduction in stress will be worth it. I hope.

All in all, I think I can manage to take my holiday after all. So, early Monday morning, Australia, here I come ...!
